The trailer for the upcoming film, Bruiser, gives a better look at Till‘s Jalyn Hall, Moonlight‘s Trevante Rhodes and Invasion‘s Shamier Anderson in a story about manhood and growing up.

The film stars Hall as a teenager who develops a friendship with a drifter, but the friendship turns into something unexpected.

The project, which first premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, serves as Miles Warren’s directorial feature debut and also stars Shamier Anderson and Shinelle Azoroh. Bruiser is also the first narrative feature film from Onyx Collective, which is Disney’s content arm uplifting underrepresented voices and creatives of color.

According to the official description:

In director Miles Warren’s searing feature debut about fathers, families and the effects of toxic masculinity, 14-year-old Darious (Jalyn Hall) explores the boundaries of his manhood through tumultuous interactions with Malcolm (Shamier Anderson), his strict but loving father, and Porter (Trevante Rhodes), a charismatic drifter. When Darious learns Porter’s true identity, he is thrust into a conflict between the two men that may rip his family apart and threaten his safety.

Rhodes produces with Aaron Ryder via Ryder Picture Company, Jewerl Ross of Silent R Management, Scott Frank and Scott Lumpkin. Lyrical Media and Toula67 Entertainment are also producers.
