The 2002 crime drama Paid in Full, starring Mekhi Phifer, Wood Harris and Regina Hall and produced in part by Roc-A-Fella Films, might get a sequel.

According to Atlanta Black Star, rapper Cam’ron, who starred in the film as Rico, said on Instagram Live this week that one of his friends is now the head of Dimension Films, which was once ran by now-disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein. The company was behind Paid in Full, and Cam’ron said that talks have now been underway “in the last few months” about making a follow-up, adding that he’s been asked about the film “several times.”

“Actually, a couple hours ago, something we talked about [pertained to] Paid in Full 2,” he said. “I don’t want to say 100 percent yes, but we’re definitely in the talks about doing something similar to Paid in Full1…It’s definitely a conversation going on right now about that, 100 percent.”

The film is set in New York during the 1980s, chronicling the story of Ace (Harris), who quickly becomes a huge player in the city’s drug racket only to become at odds with his conscience. The film is based on the real lives of friends Azie “AZ” Faison, Alpo Martinez and Rich Porter.
