Get your tissues ready for Canvas, the upcoming animated film coming to Netflix this December.
The film is produced by Paige Johnstone and directed by Frank E. Abney, Hair Love executive producer and former Pixar animator who worked on the upcoming Pixar film Soul. The film focuses on an elderly man who returns to his art after facing a devastating loss. According to Netflix:
“Canvas tells the story of a Grandfather who, after suffering a devastating loss, is sent into a downward spiral and loses his inspiration to create. Years later, he decides to revisit the easel, and pick up the paint brush… but he can’t do it alone.”
Abney initially tweeted the trailer for Canvas on Nov. 13, the same day Netflix officially released the trailer to its social media. In the tweet, Abney revealed he worked on Canvas for two years, initially as a short film.
