Xosha Roquemore is joining the the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

Deadline reports that the Sherman’s Showcase and Cherish the Day star is starring alongside Anthony Mackie in Captain America: New World Order. The film also stars Carl Lumbly, Tim Blake Nelson, Harrison Ford, Danny Ramirez and Shira Haas.

As per usual with Marvel Studios, the studio hasn’t expounded on what Roquemore’s role will be. But some things we can extrapolate from the cast, particularly from Lumbly being cast, is that the film might continue exploring the role Blackness has when it comes to Mackie’s Captain America, Sam Wilson.

Wilson’s relationship with the mantle and Blackness was originally explored in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Lumbly portrayed Isaiah Bradley, the first American super soldier who was eventually mistreated by the American government well before Steve Rogers was injected with the super serum.

Captain America: New World Order will be directed by Julius Onah from a script by Malcolm Spellman, who was the creative lead behind The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The film will come to theaters May 3, 2024.
