New additions André Holland, Zach Galifianakis, Levi Miller, Deric McCabe, Bellamy Young, Rowan Blanchard and Will McCormack round out the cast of Ava DuVernay’s film adaptation of “A Wrinkle In Time,” which is set up at Disney.

They join an ensemble that includes Oprah Winfrey as Mrs. Which, Reese Witherspoon as Mrs. Whatsit, Mindy Kaling as Mrs. Who, Chris Pine as Mr. Murry, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Mrs. Murry, and rising star Storm Reid who is toplining Disney’s take on Madeleine L’Engle’s children’s book playing Meg Murry – the science/fantasy novel, first published in 1963, that revolves around a young girl whose father, a government scientist, has gone missing after working on a mysterious project called a tesseract. Three celestial beings guide her, her brother, and her friend to space in order to find him.

Holland has signed up to play Principal Jenkins; Galifianakis is The Happy Medium; Miller plays Calvin; and McCabe is Charles Wallace.

“A Wrinkle in Time” is the first in a series of novels by author Madeleine L’Engle, so this could be just the first of a multi-film franchise. If you’ve read the novel(s), I’d love to read your reactions. I picked up a copy of “A Wrinkle in Time” after it was announced that DuVernay would direct it, but my to-read stack of books is tall, and I haven’t gotten to it yet. But I’m sure I will before the film becomes a reality. If you’d like to own a copy, click here.

Jim Whitaker and Catherine Hand are producing the film, which will begin principal photography in California, with two weeks of production in New Zealand planned.
