Fresh off the news that MACRO, Warner Bros. and Ryan Coogler are working on Jesus Was My Homeboy starring Daniel Kaluuya and Lakeith Stanfield, MACRO has announced its first look deal with Warner Bros.

MACRO, a production company specializing in projects featuring the stories of people of color and other marginalized communities, announced the new deal along with Warner Bros. in a statement.

“We are thrilled to join forces with Warner Bros. Pictures and their visionary leadership team whose bold choices have led to some of our industry’s most successful and impactful films,” said MACRO founder Charles D. King. “This expertise, combined with WarnerMedia and AT&T’s global assets and distribution, offers MACRO an unparalleled opportunity to expand our reach and further our mission of identifying and producing authentic stories by and about people of color.”

“In just a short period of time, Charles and MACRO have helped redefine representation in feature films,” said WB Chairman Toby Emmerich and head of production Courtenay Valenti. “They have an incredible track record, and we’re looking forward to working with them to produce films that highlight the authenticity and importance of diversity.”

Jesus Was My Homeboy, the latest project hailing from MACRO, stars Kaluuya as Black Panther activist Fred Hampton and Stanfield as William O’Neal, who gave the FBI intel on Hampton. The film’s screenplay is by Shaka King and Will Berson. King will also direct and produce.
