Chris Rock Says He Was Up For This 'The Cosby Show' Role: 'Thank God That Didn't Happen'

Chris Rock could have been on Seinfeld with his friend Jerry Seinfeld.

He recently told Stephen Colbert on The Late Show that was considered to play the part of Seinfeld's friend George Costanza. As we know, that part is what made Jason Alexander a household name.

Rock called the revelation "a lot of NBC talk," adding that he was also considered to play a role on Friends. "Yes, I would have been the Black friend. That's basically who I am to America at this point," he said. He also revealed that he was up for playing Theo Huxtable's friend Cockroach on The Cosby Show, saying, "[T]hank God that didn't happen."

As far as his potential role on Seinfeld Rock said the casting for the show happened just as it should have.

"Let's just say the good people at Seinfeld, they made the right choice," he said. "[Alexander is] good. He's amazing."
