nullClint Dyer joins Doctor Who actor Trevor Laird and Shameless star Karen Bryson, to play a family in David Kitchen’s London-set dramatic feature, Family Reunion – Kitchen’s directorial debut.

Here’s a plot breakdown:

Family Reunion tells the story of a close-knit London family, who recently lost their mother and Uncle. As Dad (Trevor Laird) and his loving children Karen (Karen Bryson) and Jason (Clint Dyer) return from the funeral, the family home seems to lack the warmth it once had. The sadness is lightened by the joy of the upcoming family celebrations, Jason’s sons 10th birthday, dad’s 60th birthday and a family reunion. As the planning for the milestone birthdays and reunion gets underway, it is tainted by a secret. What is the secret? Will it be revealed or will this family be torn apart forever?

Clint Dyer will be familiar to long-time S&A readers; the writer and actor’s feature film, SUS, was heavily pushed on S&A years ago. It’s a film I championed, with good reason, but, unfortunately, is not available in the USA on any format that I’m aware of.

Our UK readers may be familiar with Karen Bryson for her work as feisty matriarch Avril Powell, in the critically acclaimed British comedy, Shameless – the original series that the Showtime version that airs in the USA, is based on.

Trevor Laird, also a British actor, has appeared in several British TV series, like the aforementioned Doctor Who, as well as Waking the Dead and The Eagle.

Writer/director David Kitchen started out as an actor, appearing in British TV shows like The Island, Peak Practice, and Eastenders

Family Reunion is his directorial debut.

Without knowing much else about the project, and Kitchen’s abilities as a director unknown, since it’s his debut, I’d say that the film should, at the very least, be very well acted, given the above talented thespians, whose work I am familiar with.
