Netflix has announced the order for a limited series starring Emmy Award winner Colman Domingo.

The series is a conspiracy thriller centered around media pundit Muncie Daniels (Domingo). Daniels “must fight for his innocence and his life after he stumbles upon a murder deep in the Poconos woods. As the walls close in, Muncie strives to reconnect with his estranged family – and his lost ideals – in order to survive.”

The new series is a product of the first-look deal between Netflix and Chernin Entertainment.

“The Madness is a fresh take on the conspiracy thriller — turning the genre on its head with its multi-layered characters, propulsive action and swift pace,” said Peter Friedlander, Vice President of Scripted Series, Netflix, U.S. and Canada. “We are proud to have such a powerhouse team assembled to bring this dynamic story to life for Netflix viewers around the world, and to continue producing great entertainment with team Chernin.”

The series creator Stephen Belber also functions as executive producer and showrunner.

Alongside Belber, VJ Boyd will serve as co-showrunner / executive producer. Peter Chernin, Kaitlin Dahill and Jenno Topping, the President of Chernin Entertainment, are slated to be executive producers.

Clément Virgo is on board to direct and executive produce the first two and last two episodes. Quyen Tran and Jessica Lowrey will each direct two episodes as well.

Domingo won the 2022 Emmy for best guest actor in a drama series for the hit HBO show Euphoria.

The veteran actor played Victor Strand in the AMC series, Fear the Walking Dead. His film credits include the recently wrapped Rustin, in which he will star as Bayard Rustin, as well as Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Lincoln, Selma, Zola and If Beale Street Could Talk.
