Crowdfund This: New Comedy Web Series 'Man of the House'

nullFilmmaker

and screenwriter Kameishia Wooten has created a new comedy web series, "Man of

the House," which tells the story of Victor, an eight year old energetic,

mischievous and kind hearted kid, who is

determined to interfere in any way he can with his single mom’s quest to find love.

A North

Carolina native, now based in Los Angeles, Ms. Wooten got her MFA in Film

Production from Columbia College in Chicago, and has made several short films, while also working in various film production and teaching positions, and also production positions at

Universal Pictures, Walt Disney Animation, and currently at Paramount Home Distribution.

She was

inspired to make "Man of the House" based on her own experiences growing up. As

she says "I once was a single mom’s kid before my parents reconciled when I

was in the third grade.  The series was

partially inspired by my own childhood experiences of my mother being single…Most

of my friends grew up in single family households, so it seemed ideal for me to

tell a story that I knew would be relatable to a large demographic.”

But there is another reason why she wants to see "House," which she plans to launch this fall

because “there has been a lack of positive images of African American single

parent families in the media.  Every

single mom is not from the ghetto or considers herself a ‘baby momma’."

So Ms.

Wooten has started an Indiegogo campaign to raise $6,000 to make the series, and for

post-production costs. But donors will get special perks as well. "My hope is that getting this campaign

funded and being able to produce more episodes will bring a fresh new

perspective to the web and that it will open the door for more diversity.”

Indegogo page for "Man of the House" HERE, and click HERE to check out Ms. Wooten’s
