As a lover of film collaborations amongst very talented folk I felt compelled to share this film project and crowdfunding campaign with you all as shared with me from Christopher Everett, the director of the highly anticipated documentary “Wilmington on Fire” and producer of this film:
A group of multitalented filmmakers from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, USC, and the North Carolina School of the Arts are collaborating to create five (5) super short films called The Perceptions Project.
What’s it about? It’s a matter of perception.
Freedom is a word/concept that’s often plagued with idealisms and xenophobic rhetoric when, in actuality, it may look vastly different for any two people from the exact same background and upbringing much less people from different countries.
With this in mind we’re creating five short films simply titled: Peace, Love, Hate, Fun, and Freedom. The first shorts of the series, “Peace” and “Hate,” were shot in July 2014 in the Bronx, NY and were written and directed by Stacey Rose, a NYU Tisch MFA in Dramatic Writing candidate.
Shot in Bronx, NY and Charlotte, NC; each film will be five minutes in length and tell an entire story about its named idea from the unique perspective of the characters in the story. Sounds fun, right? But what does “fun” even mean!!??
The project is gearing up to shoot its next film: “Fun”
Directed by NYU Tisch 3rd year MFA Film candidate Brittany M. Fennell, shot by Isiah Donté Lee (North Carolina School of the Arts), and written and executive produced by Ms. Rose, “Fun” will take a 5 minute peak into the life of Kenya and Able, a couple whose marriage has run up against the soppy shores of boredom. Will they be able to rekindle that magic feeling?
