One of Hollywood’s most rising stars has nabbed a role alongside Emma Stone in Disney’s Cruella.

Kirby Howell-Baptiste has closed a deal to star with Emma Stone in the film, which is an origin story based on the 101 Dalmatians villain, Cruella de Vil.

Stone portrays de Vil while Emma Thompson, Paul Walter Hauser and Joel Fry will also star. Specific details about Howell-Baptiste’s character are unknown.

The film, which is currently in production, is set to be released on December 23, 2020. Craig Gillespie is the director and Tony McNamara wrote the last version of the script. Dana Fox wrote an earlier draft.

Howell-Baptiste is perhaps best known for her role alongside Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer in Killing Eve. She currently stars as one of the leads with Lucy Liu and Ginnifer Goodwin in CBS All Access’ Why Women Kill, and also starred in the miniseries revival of Veronica Mars on Hulu. She’s also had stints on HBO’s Barry and NBC’s The Good Place.

Variety broke the news of Howell-Baptiste’s casting.
