Cynthia Erivo Dreams Of Portraying Serena Williams On-Screen

Cynthia Erivo can be seen now in Bad Times at the El Royale, next in Steve McQueen’s Widows, and she’s also starting production on the biopic Harriet.

So, to say she’s busy would be an understatement.

And while she has a lot lined up, she also has another dream role in mind: the greatest tennis player in history.

The British-born actress would love to play Serena Williams.

In an interview with Vogue, Erivo said, “There’s this fiery, determined champion, and then there’s this really gorgeous, almost Marilyn Monroe–esque siren—something really quite ethereal.” Erivo also said she’d like to play some sort of fictional superhero. “I think I’d really enjoy being able to just go for it, to be honest,” she told the mag.

Widows hits theaters on November 16.
