Upon the retool of Once Upon a Time, the show is gaining several new series regulars, one of them being Dania Ramirez. When we first reported of her casting (along with that of Mekia Cox), ABC was keeping the identity of her character under tight wraps, but know we know who she will be: none other than Cinderella. 

The news was revealed at the D23 expo.

This Cinderella will be the wife of Henry and and the mother of Lucy.

“Dania Ramirez will be playing a different version of Cinderella. If we remember Henry’s grandfather is Prince Charming, so we have the grandson of Prince Charming with a new Cinderella.” said series EP Edward Kitsis at D23.

OUAT viewers will remember that there was a previous iteration of Cinderella played by Jessy Schram. On the change, Kitsis said, “Henry’s the author of the first book, but he wants to go to the place where the happy ending isn’t written. New books could have different versions of some stories and ways of looking at them that maybe we’ve seen before, maybe some new characters as well.”

Once Upon a Time returns this fall.
