The Harder They Fall breakout star Danielle Deadwyler is set to star alongside brothers Aldis and Edwin Hodge in the sci-fi thriller Parallel. It is a remake of the Chinese film, Parallel Forest.

As reporrted by Deadline, Deadwyler will star in the film as Vanessa, “a grief-stricken woman suffering the loss of her child who mysteriously finds herself navigating between parallel spaces. During a retreat with her husband and brother-in-law, she is faced with the threat of self-destruction in order to regain the life she knew before her loss. These parallel gates may hold the key to releasing her grief or trapping her forever.”

Directed by Kourosh Ahari, the script for Parallel was written by both Edwin and Aldis Hodge, along with Jonathan Keasey. Deadwyler has also boarded the project as an executive producer. 

Both Edwin and Aldis will produce the film through their company Hodge Brothers Productions, alongside Rumble Riot’s Sean Lydiard and Jaylen Moore, as well as Keasey, and Ann Zhang of Beijing Pu Luo Media Co. Zhang produced the original film.

Aside from Deadwyler, Parallel will be executive produced by Elliott Michael Smith and RJ Collins of Rumble Riot, Richie Doyle of Fremont Films, Alex Bretow of Mammoth Pictures, Lei Zheng and Chengxi Li at Beijing Pu Luo Media Co, Randall J. Bacon, Dean Scheske, Joseph Lanius, Danny R. Carmona and Jovanna Burke.

Deadwyler is set to star soon Emmett Till’s mother Mamie-Till Mobley in Till, which is directed by Chinonye Chukwu. She was also set as the lead in J.J. Abrams’ Demimonde, but the HBO Max series was axed before filming began due to budget.
