Danny Glover and Danny Trejo Just Wrapped 'Bad Asses,' Sequel to 'Bad Ass'

null“They messed with the wrong senior citizen”…again.

You might recall 2012’s cult hit Bad Ass, which starred Danny Trejo alongside Charles Dutton and Ron Perleman. In that film, which had a limited theatrical release in April of last year, Trejo starrred as Vietnam hero Frank Vega, who, upon returning home, becomes an outcast from society, with no job or high school sweetheart. Forty years later however, Vega becomes a local hero when he protects an elderly black man from a pair of skin heads. Things go wayward though when his best friend Klondike is murdered but police don’t do anything about it.

Well, it looks likenullits sequel, Bad Asses, wrapped up last Friday in Los Angeles and Glover is starring alongside Trejo. In the action-packed follow-up, Glover stars as Bernie, Trejo’s partner, as they “clean up the streets and take the law into their own hands.”

After the first film, apparently Frank founded a Community Center where he mentors young boxers both in and out of the ring. Conflict arises when one of Frank’s most valued student turns up dead after hanging with a bad crowd, and now Frank and Bernie (Glover) team up to seek justice, finding themselves in dangerous and life-threatening situations.

Bad Asses is directed by Craig Moss, who directed the first film. Ben Feingold, Ash Shah and Jim Busfield serve as executive producers. Producers hope to release the film theatrically at the end of this year, followed by 20th Century Fox distribution on Blu-ray, DVD and VOD/Digital worldwide in early 2014.

Danny Glover is slated to star in several intriguing upcoming films including the slavery drama Tula, The Revolt, the white supremacy thriller Supremacy and ensemble drama Highland Park.
