Trailer: Danny Glover and Maya Rudolph Star in Diego Luna‘s Mexico-Set Road Movie, 'Mr. Pig'

Danny Glover and Maya Rudolph star in actor/director Diego Luna‘s road movie “Mr. Pig,” which takes place in Mexico, and follows a farmer (Glover) who travels from the U.S. to Mexico, joined by a pig whom he strikes up a friendship with.

The film’s official synopsis reads: On a mission to sell his last remaining prize hog and reunite with old friends, an aging farmer abandons his foreclosed farm and journeys to Mexico. After smuggling in the hog, his estranged daughter shows up, forcing them to face their past and embark on an adventurous road trip together.

Promising a more lighthearted, comedic turn than the film he made before this one, “Cesar Chavez,” producer Pablo Cruz of Luna’s Canana production shingle calls “Mr Pig” “a beautiful road movie, and a chance to talk about love for Mexico through the eyes of an American,” adding that, “It has a U.S. appeal because of Danny and its English-language. It’s obviously has a Mexican appeal because of Diego and other Mexican actors involved.”

Glover and Rudolph are joined in front of the camera by José María Yazpik, Joel Murray, Angélica Aragón, and Gabriela Araujo.

The 2016 Sundance Film Festival selection was directed by Diego Luna from a script he co-wrote with Augusto Mendoza .

The film is produced through Canana, which was founded by Luna, Gael Garcia Bernal, and Pablo Cruz.
