FXX’s Dave, starring Lil Dicky, has been renewed for a second season while also snagging the title of FX Networks most-watched comedy ever.

According to Deadline, the series garnered an average audience of 5.32 million on various platforms, including streaming and video-on-demand. This tops Atlanta, which garnered an average of 5.2 million. Nick Grad, FX Entertainment’s president of original programming, called the feat “an extraordinary achievement for Dave, the cast and crew as they teamed to make a memorable and brilliant season of television.”

As we wrote in March, both Atlanta and Dave have been analyzed together by fans, with some calling Dave the white version of Donald Glover’s hit show. Also similar to how Atlanta was created by Glover, a comedian, Dave has the backing of another famous Black comedian, Kevin Hart, who serves as an executive producer. Then there are the issues with Lil Dicky’s history with the N-word.

Based on the life of rapper-comedian Dave Burd (aka Dicky), Dave has already been renewed for a second season in 2021.
