Derek Luke, who, coincidentally, we’ll be interviewing soon for his role in the upcoming new season of Jada Pinkett’s TNT series, Hawthorne, has joined that ensemble cast of Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.
The synopsis for the film. a sci-fi romance, reads: As an asteroid nears Earth, a man (played by Steve Carell) finds himself alone after his wife leaves in a panic. He decides to take a road trip to reunite with his high school sweetheart. Accompanying him is a neighbor (played by Keira Knightley) who inadvertently puts a wrench in his plan.
Derek Luke will play Knightley’s love interest – “an Army man who wants her to join him in a bomb shelter.“
Also in this ensemble cast are William Petersen, Adam Brody and Rob Corddry.
Lorene Scafaria, who also wrote the screenplay, will direct the film, which begins production next week in Los Angeles – her debut.
