The cast of Chris Pine’s upcoming directorial debut Poolman will now include DeWanda Wise.

She joins the film alongside Pine, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Annette Bening, and Danny DeVito.

Pine directs a screenplay written by himself and Ian Gotler.

As reported by Deadline:

Pine will play Darren Barrenman, a hopeless romantic and would-be philosopher who spends his days maintaining the Tahitian Tiki apartment complex’s pool and attending city council meetings with his neighbors Jack (DeVito) and Diane  (Bening). In order to defend his beloved home of Los Angeles, Barrenman uncovers the biggest water heist in LA history since Chinatown and forms shaky alliances with a gorgeous and well-connected femme fatale. He will pursue every lead he can find dealing with dishonest city officials, burned-out Hollywood types, and mysterious benefactors.

Pine produces alongside Patty Jenkins and Stacey Sher. The film has also landed Matthew Jensen as a cinematograher. The film is scheduled to begin filming in Los Angeles in June 2022.

Wise most recently appeared in the summer blockbuster 'Jurassic World: Dominion,' in which she played Kayla.

The movie’s global box office recently surpassed the $800 million mark.

She also plays one of the lead roles in the upcoming Showtime series Three Women.
