DeWanda Wise Will No Longer Co-Star In 'Captain Marvel' Due To Scheduling Conflicts

Say it ain’t so!

DeWanda Wise has reportedly exited the upcoming Marvel superhero film, Captain Marvel, due to scheduling conflicts.

Sources close to production tell Deadline that it is more than likely due to the filming of the second season of She’s Gotta Have It.

Wise’s key role was never revealed, but rumors persist that she would have possibly been the superhero Monica Rambeau, a superheroine now known as Spectrum, who once had the name Captain Marvel as well. In Marvel lore, she’s assisted Larson’s Capital Marvel, Carol Danvers.

Her replacement has not been announced, but we expect that the news will come soon.

The 90s-set film will star Brie Larson as the titular superhero, along with Samuel L. Jackson reprising his role as Nick Fury, Jude Law and Gemma Chan.
