Disney Junior has announced a new animated series, Eureka!, starring Sydney to the Max star Ruth Righi. Renée Elise Goldsberry, Lil Rel Howery and Javier Muñoz have also been cast as series leads. The series comes from the animation studio for Doc McStuffins, Brown Bag Films and is created and executive produced by Doc McStuffins director Norton Virgien and children’s book author and illustrator Niamh Sharkey.

The musical series will follow Eureka (Righi), a young inventor in the prehistoric town of Rocky Falls. Goldsberry and Howery will voice her mother and father, Roxy and Rollo. Muñoz will voice Eureka’s teacher Ohm.

According to the official description: “Eureka!” tells the story of a young girl inventor who is way ahead of her time. Utilizing creative out-of-the-box thinking, she designs inventions and contraptions in the hopes of making the world a better place and moving her prehistoric community into a more modern era. With the help of her supportive parents, teacher, best friends—Pepper and Barry—and beloved pet mammoth Murphy, Eureka is learning to embrace that she is not ordinary … she’s extraordinary.

Amphibia voice actor Kai Zen will voice Pepper and Kinky Boots star Devin Trey Campbell will voice Barry. Fred Tatasciore from Big Hero 6 The Series will voice Eureka’s pet, Murphy. The series also utilizes information the series’ science education consultant Christiana “Chee” McGuigan, a science educator who has worked with the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center, and the California Science Center. Other consultants include Dr. Knatokie Ford, a biomedical scientist, social entrepreneur and former senior policy advisor for the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and Disney’s Imagineering engineers.

“Eureka is an inspiring young girl with a big imagination and even bigger heart,” said Disney Junior’s senior VP of original programming and general manager Joe D’Ambrosia. “Through her creative inventions and friendships, she brings her prehistoric town together and helps others learn to look at the world from different perspectives. We like to think of her as our very first Disney Imagineer.”

Eureka! is set to debut on Disney Junior later in 2021.
