'Django Unchained' To Be First Tarantino Film Released In China

nullJust when you thought we were through with Django Unchained comes one more item.

The film will be the first Quentin Tarantino film to be released in China. What that means for the total box office of the film, which Sony Pictures is releasing overseas, and which, right now, stands at $403 million worldwide, is anybody’s guess. But it’s not going to hurt for sure.

And as with practically all Western films released in China, Django will be subject to censorship much less than other films. Reportedly only less than 2 minutes will be cut from the film. Compare that to Cloud Atlas which was butchered by Chinese censors cutting out some 40 minutes from the film.

What the Django footage is that is being removed hasn’t been revealed, but it sure can’t be the violent scenes. If they cut those out nothing would be left of the film.
