'Do Not Resist' Is an Urgent Exploration of Police Force Militarization in the USA (Trailer)

“Do Not Resist”

“Do Not Resist” – the directorial debut of “Detropia” cinematographer Craig Atkinson – offers a stunning look at the current state of policing in America and a glimpse into its future. Opening with startling on-the-scene footage in Ferguson, Missouri, the film then broadens its scope to present scenes from across the country – a conference presentation where the value of high-end weapons technologies is presented to potential police buyers, a community that has just received its very own military-grade tank, and a SWAT team arriving at a home to execute a warrant. The cumulative effect of these vignettes paints a startling picture of the direction our local law enforcement is headed.

“Do Not Resist”

After a celebrated, critical film festival run (including the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival, where it won the Best Documentary Feature award), “Do Not Resist” opened in New York City last week Friday, September 20, screening at Film Forum; it heads west next, opening in Los Angeles on October 14th, at Laemmle’s Monica Film Center- Santa Monica and Laemmle Playhouse 7- Pasadena.

And then on October 21, it’ll open in San Francisco at The Roxie Cinema, with a national roll-out thereafter.
