A new promo for Doctor Who aired during the World Cup and introduces the companions for the thirteenth doctor (and first woman doctor), portrayed by Jodie Whittaker.

Tosin Cole is one of the companions, alongside Bradley Walsh and Mandip Gill.

The British actor is most known to audiences across the pond for starring in the soap operas EastEnders: E20 and Hollyoaks. Stateside, folks may recognize him as one of the stars of the controversial Netflix film Burning Sands.

He also had a minor role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, joining Warwick Davis, Dave Prowse and Felicity Jones as the only actors to appear in both Doctor Who and Star Wars.

Cole was also set to star in Lena Waithe’s Showtime drama series, The Chi, but after the pilot was redeveloped and the principal roles were recast, Jason Mitchell took over the part for the final product, which aired its first season earlier this year.

“I’m grateful and excited to be a part of this journey with the team. I’m looking forward to jumping in this Doctor Who universe,” Cole told BBC last year. His character’s name is Ryan. Walsh and Gill will portray Graham and Yasmin, respectively.

The show will have a 10-week run beginning in fall 2018.
