Don Cheadle is a decorated veteran actor that never misses when he assumes a new character. Cheadle’s delivery convinces viewers that he is who he is on screen. He should absolutely be awarded for his talent. However, his latest Emmy nomination has Cheadle…and everyone else…scratching their heads.

Per usual, each year’s Emmy nominations create a fuss. There are individuals that deserve a nomination, but for some reason didn’t make the cut. Then there are nominations that have viewers tilting their head like Fido dazed in a quandary. Don Cheadle’s nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series is the latter.

Cheadle received the nomination for reprising his Marvel Cinematic Universe as role as James Rhodes / War Machine in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. However, Cheadle is only present in the pilot episode for three minutes across two scenes with limited dialogue.

In the first scene, sames is completely silent with only his presence being on display. He is listening to Sam Wilson, played by Anthony Mackie,, speak on what should happen to Captain America’s shield. He talked in the second scene to Mackie’s character about Captain America’s legacy.

Cheadle took to Twitter to express his amazement at the nomination as well. “Thanks, well wishers. sorry, haters,” Cheadle wrote on his Twitter page. “I don’t really get it either. buuuuuuuuuut on we go…”

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier received other nominations this year at the Emmys. However, the series leads Mackie and Sebastian Stan were not among the nominees. The series received five nominations this year in total.
