Don Cheadle has shared a touching tribute to his late Golden Girls co-star Betty White, who passed away on New Year’s Eve at the age of 99. Cheadle appeared on the spinoff series, The Golden Palace, collaborating with Betty White for one season that ran from 1992 to 1993.

Cheadle honors White on Twitter

Cheadle took to Twitter to pay tribute to the iconic White, saying, “betty was the best of the best, when we were shooting scenes together it was difficult for the DP to get the lighting right between my chocolate and betty’s white! she was either a ghost or I was the shadow. I came on set one day and betty had darkened her make up/hair a bit in an attempt to accommodate for it.

He continued, “nobody asked her to do it. and that’s just one small example of her overflowing generosity. my dogs thank her too. she gave us our veterinarian reco who we still see to this day. she was the goldenest of them all and will be forever missed.”

Cheadle’s tribute also marks the streaming debut of the Golden Girls spinoff The Golden Palace, which was meant to also celebrate White turning 100 7 days after the series made its debut on Hulu.

Betty White was the last surviving member of the Golden Girls. She passed away in her home in Brentwood, California.
