Donald Glover and Michael Strahan have both joined Jada Pinkett Smith in "Magic Mike XXL," the sequel to the hit 2012 movie starring Channing Tatum, and based on his early days as a male stripper.
Director Gregory Jacobs has said that the sequel will be different from the first film, saying, "It’s a road trip movie, and put it this way: It’s different enough that once you see it you’ll understand why we made a sequel… No one will be accusing us of making the same movie twice."
Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello will be reprising their roles.
Amber Heard, Gabriel Iglesias and Andie MacDowell are also cast additions.
I should note that there is the Michael Jai White/Tyson Beckford/Jean-Claude LaMarre drama "Chocolate City," an upcoming film that will take viewers into the world of male strippers, who also happen to be black.
The first "Magic Mike" was was a hit, earning $113 million in domestic box office; a Broadway musical based on the movie is in the works.
