Nia Long and Eden Duncan-Smith have been tapped to star in an upcoming movie from Inner City Films and director Alfons Adetuyi. Long is also an executive producer of the film.

The description: Set in 1971 against the backdrop of the secret NASA Apollo 16 training mission, the indie tells the story of an African-American teenage girl who dreams of becoming an astronaut in her small mining town.

Denis Foon wrote the script. The film is set to begin filming in April in South Africa. Spier Films is also producing along with Inner City Films. Both companies produced Love Jacked, which was directed by Adetuyi and starred Amber Stevens West, Shamier Anderson, Mike Epps and Keith David. It is streaming on Netflix now.

Duncan-Smith was one of the two young leads of Netflix’s See You Yesterdayexecutive produced by Spike Lee and directed by Stefon Bristol. Long will be seen next month on the big screen in Apple’s The Banker and has completed production on Netflix’s Fatal Affair, which she produces and stars in with Omar Epps.
