'DWTS' Host Tyra Banks Is Being Criticized For The Finale: 'I Thought She Had A Wendy Williams Moment'

Tyra Banks just can’t seem to catch a break. The former Victoria’s Secret angel and America’s Next Top Model creator has been on the receiving end of much criticism due to her past judging on ANTM being viewed as toxic.

For whatever reason, fans of Dancing With the Stars also find her less favorable as the reality competition series’ host. Recently, viewers blasted Banks for her reaction to the winner of Season 30. 

Tyra Banks shows excitement over ‘DWTS’ Season 30 winners

Banks began by announcing the placement of the four remaining contestants during the finale episode. The Talk’s Amanda Kloots came in fourth, with Peloton guru Cody Rigsby placing third. Fans anxiously awaited the reveal for the winner.

Frontrunners Iman Shumpert and JoJo Siwa took the stage to learn the results. “The winners of Dancing With the Stars are,” Banks said as she gazed at the camera and down at her cards. She took a long pause before yelling “Oh my god!” Banks then backed away and shrieked before announcing Shumpert and pro Daniella the season 30 winners of the large golden ball.

Fans criticize Tyra Banks, alleging she stole camera time from Iman Shumpert and showed favoritism

Banks has been criticized online, with many claiming she took too long to announce the winner which fans claim resulted in not being able to immediately see Shumpert react to being crowned the champion.

“All of us were robbed of watching a mirror ball celebration and Iman interview thanks to Tyra,” wrote one person. “Way to go… 😡😡😡😡😡 More mirror ball time, less Tyra time.”

 

 

Someone else compared her to Wendy Williams.

They tweeted, “What was up with Tyra? Why the hesitation to announce that Iman won the DWTS finale? I thought she had a Wendy Williams moment for a second!” 

Fans also allege Banks’ reaction prove she favored Shumpert over the rest.

They say it’s OK to have favorites but not show such as clearly as she has throughout the season.
