A24 has set Savanah Leaf’s Earth Mama, which stars Tia Nomore, Erika Alexander, Doechii, Dominic Fike and more–Shadow and Act has learned.

Also from Film4, the project is the feature directorial debut of Leaf, a former British Olympian for volleyball, and is based on her own script.

The film also stars Sharon Duncan Brewster and Bokeem Woodbine.

It is described as “an intimate coming of age story of a pregnant single mother who embraces her Bay Area community as she determines the fate of her family.”

Along with A24 and Lead, the film is produced by Shirley O’Connor and Medb Riordan of Academy Films, Cody Ryder and Sam Bisbee of Park Pictures with Danielle Massie co-producing, and additional support from Film4.

Ben Coren, David Kimbangi, James Wilson, Simon Cooper, Jackie Bisbee, Lance Acord, Christine D’Souza Gelb and Cameron Washington executive produce. 

Film4 eveloped the film alongside the filmmakers and will co-finance alongside A24. A24 is managing the global release.
