Eriq La Salle and Elise Neal have both booked roles in the third, and, according to star Hugh Jackman, the last Wolverine film he’ll star in. Let’s hope it’s a strong improvement on the first two Wolverine films. I will say that, thus far, the movies in the franchise have gotten increasingly better, with the first one being the absolute weakest, and the second, while definitely an upgrade, still left Wolverine fans thirsty for the ultimate Wolverine movie.

Maybe this third installment will be it… maybe not.

James Mangold, who directed the second film, returns to do so again on #3, from a script penned by David James Kelly.

As for what role La Salle and Neal have signed up to play, it’s a mystery. In fact, except for the obvious (Hugh Jackman as Wolverine), a number of announced roles that have been cast in the film are being kept underwraps for now. We don’t even know what the story will be.

The studio behind the project, 20th Century Fox, certainly has the project on lockdown. But that has only fueled rumors from fanboys/fangirls.

Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant and Stephen Merchant are all cast members as well.

Patrick Stewart is also expected to feature in the film as the older Charles Xavier.

“Wolverine 3,” or whatever it will eventually be titled, will be in theaters next year.
