Exclusive: Omari Hardwick & Edwina Findley Join Cast Of Ava DuVernay's Next - "Middle Of Nowhere"

If you’re a regular S&A reader, you’re certainly aware we’ve been tracking the progress of filmmaker Ava DuVernay and her next feature film project Middle Of Nowhere. We were informed earlier today that Omari Hardwick (who co-starred in Ava’s feature debut I Will Follow, as well as in Tyler Perry’s For Colored Girls), and Edwina Findley (Treme, The Wire) have joined the film’s cast, which already stars David Oyelowo and Emayatzy Corinealdi as the lead characters, as already reported a week ago.

If you’ll recall…Middle Of Nowhere is the follow-up film to Ava’s critically acclaimed feature debut I Will Follow.

The film is the story of a woman desperately balancing her relationship with her newly incarcerated husband and her own shifting identity. The film explores the complex world of “women in waiting” through the eyes of a character named “Ruby,” played by Corinealdi. As Ruby journeys through the rugged terrain her life has become, she meets “Brian,” portrayed by Oyelowo, who challenges and changes her.

Bradford Young (Restless City,Pariah) will be lensing the movie, and Spencer Averick (I Will Follow) takes editing duties. Middle Of Nowhere is produced by DuVernay and Howard Barish, with Paul Garnes and Tilane Jones.
