Shadow and Act EXCLUSIVE: Richard Roundtree has joined the cast of Fox’s Lethal Weapon for its upcoming third season.

The veteran actor was last seen in stints on BET’s Being Mary Jane and Fox’s Star. He’ll join Lethal Weapon for a stint as Judge Don Bennett, the father of Trish (Keesha Sharp).

The description: Trish’s dapper and distinguished father Federal Judge Don Bennett, played by Richard Roundtree comes to visit, and everyone except Murtaugh is delighted. Murtaugh’s always thought of Don as a spotlight hogger, and with the celebration of his 30 years of LAPD service approaching, he’s convinced that Don will inevitably make everything about Don.

Roundtree is set to reprise his most iconic role, John Shaft, in an upcoming new film in the Shaft family of films, set for release next year starring Jessie T. Usher.

In Season 3o f Lethal Weapon, series star Damon Wayans will be joined by Seann William Scott, who will play a new character who folds into a partnership with Murtaugh (Wayans).

The series stars Wayans, Scott, Keesha Sharp, Kevin Rahm, Jordana Brewster, Johnathan Fernandez, Dante Brown, Chandler Kinney and Michelle Mitchenor.

Outside of iconic role in TV and film, Roundtree is an advocate in the fight against breast cancer and a 25-year male breast cancer survivor himself. Among his nominations and awards is a nod the Golden Globe’s Most Promising Newcomer in 1971.
Season 3 of Lethal Weapon premieres Tuesday, Sept. 25th at 9 p.m. on Fox.
