Facebook Watch Renews 4 Shows Including Kerry Washington-Produced 'Five Points' And Grief Drama 'Sorry For Your Loss'

Facebook boasted about its amount of viewers for Facebook Watch in a renewal announcement Thursday. The social media platform renewed four series for a second season: the Kerry Washington-produced high school shooting drama, Five Points, the grief drama Sorry For Your Loss which stars Elizabeth Olsen, Kelly Marie Tran and Jovan Adepo, the drama Sacred Lifes and the reality show Huda Boss.

According to Facebook, 75 million Facebook users spend at least one minute on Watch and on they spend more than 20 minutes streaming video on Facebook Watch, according to the company. They plan to continue to invest into more programming for Watch in 2019. Facebook Watch’s Red Table Talk recently returned for a Season 2.

Loss, in particular, has received critically-acclaim for Olsen and Adepo’s performances. Olsen received a Critics Choice nomination for the show, becoming Facebook’s first major awards nomination.

Produced by Kerry Washington under her Simpson Street banner, Five Points is set on the South Side of Chicago and takes a look at high school students from five unique points of view. When a life-changing event occurs, all of these different perspectives will be necessary to understand the truth.  The diverse cast consists of Madison Pettis, Haley Kiyoko, Ray Cham Jr., Trey Curtis, Nathaniel Potvin, and Spence Moore II.  It is directed by  Thomas Carter, the director of films like Save the Last Dance and Coach Carter, and television projects such as the the 2016 Roots miniseries.

Sorry for Your Loss stars Olsen as Leigh Shaw, a “young widow struggling to put her life back together in the wake of her husband’s unexpected death. The show is simultaneously devastating and uplifting, with grounded, flawed characters desperate to find humor anywhere they can. The series dives into grief as an unavoidable, universal, transformative part of life. Leigh’s journey will teach us that grief is not something merely to endure, medicate away or ‘muscle through,’ but an essential part of the human experience.”  Tran plays her sister; Janet McTeer plays her mother; Adepo plays her brother-in-law, and, through flashbacks, Mamoudou Athie plays her late husband.
