Recently, British tabloid The Daily Mirror published an outlandish news report that said that musician Bruno Mars was slated to play late musician Prince in a biopic on Netflix.

From there, a courtesy of eye rolls, tooth sucks and flat-out NOs arose from the Twittersphere, who either decried that it was too soon for a Prince biopic or that Mars was not right for the role.

However, people taken aback by this tidbit of information can rest assured. According to the Associated Press, a representative for Mars has declared that the news of Mars playing Prince in a biopic is false and there is currently no film as such in development.

Prince died in 2016 at the age of 57 of an accidental drug overdose.

Since then, the musician has been the subject of many musical tributes, from an ill-received performance by Madonna to a critically acclaimed medley by Jennifer Hudson, Tori Kelly, The Roots, Stevie Wonder, Sheila E., Maxwell and many others at the BET Awards in 2016.
