Shadow and Act recently sat down with Tia Mowry-Hardrict, Anthony Alabi and Loretta Devine about Part 3 of Netflix’s hit sitcom, Family Reunion. The cast said they are excited for fans to see what challenges the McKellan family face next.

“It’s very special. Doing a show such as this…it’s kind of like a little cheat sheet for parenting. I think that’s what’s so great about this show,” said Mowry-Hardrict, who added that the show is one of her family’s favorites and hopes other families love watching it just as much.

“It’s a show that…sparks intellectual profound conversations that need to be talked about,” she said.

Devine commented on her character M’Dear, saying that sometimes the character is even too stern for her, but she recognizes that the character reflects how the older generation viewed parenting.

“It reminds me of my family and my grandma and my ma and [how] they would discipline me and the new moms of today aren’t disciplining the same way,” she said. “I think it’s a good throwback because grandparents really go ‘Yes, that is the way it needs to be done.'”

Alabi said he believes fans will be entertained by the life lessons the characters learn.

“They’re going to be excited to see the new topics that we get into. We deal with everything from death to finances to relationships to even…teenagers and how they see themselves versus becoming a chameleon to whenever they’re dating,” he said. “I think those topics are going to be the things people enjoy and get a lot of insight from.”

Part 3 of Family Reunion is now streaming on Netflix.
