Kelly Rowland has been getting her acting on. The Destiny’s Child star has starred in several Lifetime films, including the Merry Liddle Christmas trilogy. But there’s one role that Rowland’s fans want her to dig her teeth in, and that’s as legendary disco queen Donna Summer.

The resemblance is hard to deny between the two and after a recent photo Tweeted of Summer, fans are putting in their bid for Rowland to play her.

Fans call for Kelly Rowland to play Donna Summer

Music critic Craig Seymour tweeted a throwback photo of Summer recently. The photo was featured in a 1979 issue of Rona Barrett’s Hollywood Magazine.

Twitter fans quickly began responding to the resemblance between Rowland and Summer. Rowland is aware of the comparisons. She dressed up as Summer for Halloween in 2019, donning a white bodysuit and a feathery white coat.

Summer died in 2012 at the age of 63 from lung cancer. Though Summer did not smoke, she attributed cancer to inhaling toxins from the Sept. 11 attacks in New York City as she was living in an apartment near Ground Zero.

Rowland has previously stated she’d like to star in a Summer biopic and she said she was interested in playing her in the Neil Bogart biopic, Spinning Gold. However, the role went to songwriter and singer Tayla Parx.
