The first U.S. trailer has been released for Farming via Momentum Pictures. This follows the UK trailer, which was released a few months ago via Lionsgate, which is distributing the film there.

Led by Snowfall’s Damson Idris, the film also stars Kate Beckinsale, John Dagleish, Jaime Winstone, Genevieve Nnaji and Gugu Mbatha-Raw. The film is produced by Michael London, Janice Williams, Francois Ivernel and Andrew Levitas.

Written and directed by actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (who also appears in the movie), the film is based on his own real-life story of growing up as a fostered Nigerian boy in 1980s England. According to the official description, Idris’s character Femi struggles with his identity and as a consequence, tries to find himself within a skinhead gang.

The film won the Michael Powell Award for Best British Feature Film at the Edinburgh International Festival this June. Idris also won Best Performance in a British Feature Film at the festival. With the film already beginning to rack up awards, count this as one to watch come BAFTA season. Let’s hope it also racks up an international Oscars award, too.

Farming will be released in UK theaters on October 11 and in the United States on October 25.
