First-Look At Alisha Boe, Derek Luke And RJ Brown In Season 2 Of Netflix's '13 Reasons Why'

The Netlix drama 13 Reasons Why has amassed critical acclaim for its depiction of mental health issues and the highs and lows of adolescence. The series has also had its fair share of criticism from many who accused the hit series of romanticizing mental health issues and glamorizing suicide. Despite the controversy, the show has been renewed for a second season, and an official first look has been revealed. By the looks of the photos, season 2 looks to be even more intense than its predecessor.

In the set of still photos, Jessica Davis, played by Alisha Boe, is sitting on the witness stand in a courtroom holding a set of photos embossed with the phrases "A DRUNK" and "SLUT' on it. In another photo, school counselor Kevin Porter, played by Derek Luke, is manhandling Bryce (Justice Prentice) against a wall, presumably after learning that the high school senior raped deceased student Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford). We also get a glimpse of series newcomer RJ Brown's character, Caleb, consoling Tony, played by Christian Navarro. For those not caught up, the second season of 13 Reasons Why picks up in the aftermath of the suicide of Hannah Baker and chronicles each character's road to healing.

13 Reasons Why is adapted from the best-selling books by Jay Asher. Season 1 followed teenager Clay Jensen (Dylan Minnette) as he returned home from school to find a mysterious box with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside, he discovered cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker, his classmate and crush, - who tragically committed suicide two weeks earlier. On tape, Hannah explains that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life.

The series is produced for Netflix by Paramount Television, and Selena Gomez is among the executive producers.
