First Wives Club has been renewed for a third season at BET+.

The show has already opened a writers’ room for season 3, Shadow and Act has confirmed.

As the streamer reports, “Season 2 of the hit original raised the pressure and stakes for Bree (Michelle Buteau), Hazel (Jill Scott), and Ari (Ryan Michelle Bathé). While Jayla (Michelle Mitchenor), an old friend that’s new to the group, worked to solidify her spot in the crew and earn Hazel’s trust back. The newly minted quartet navigated the ups and downs of their professional lives and evolving romantic relationships through bonds of their friendship.”

Series regulars RonReaco Lee and Mark Tallman reprised their roles as Gary and David, while Essence Atkins, Deborah Cox, Gary Dourdan, Jordan Carlos, and Mikhail Keize had recurring roles.

The project is a TV series reboot of the 1996 movie, which starred Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton. The film itself is an adaptation of the 1992 novel of the same name. The series follows “Ari (Bathe), Bree (Buteau) and Hazel (Scott) who band together after their marriages fall apart, and who find strength in their sisterhood– and of course a little revenge.” Mitchenor’s Jayla joined the group in season 2.

Oliver’s First Wives Club was initially at TV Land but was redeveloped for Paramount Network. The series was then moved to BET, and now BET+.
