British singer FKA Twigs (Tahliah Debrett Barnett) will make her film acting debut in a USA-produced crime-drama titled “Brighton Beach” (named after the Brooklyn, NYC neighborhood) which follows the rivalry between “a family-run medical practice and a local mob boss caught up in a multi-million dollar Medicare fraud racket.”
The film is Russian-American writer-director David Gutnik’s feature film debut.
Twigs co-stars in the film opposite British actor Barney Harris, although no word on what exactly her role is.
Costa Ronin, Sofia Vassilieva and Michael Kingsbaker round out the starring cast.
Produced by Molly Conners (multi-Oscar winner “Birdman”), along with Giulio Marantonio (“Kicks”) and Michelle Booso, “Brighton Beach” is currently in post-production.
FKA Twigs is represented by WME.
Screen International was first to report the news of FKA Twigs casting in the film.
