Fox has ordered five more episodes of Star season 2, bringing the season episode count to 18.

It now matches the number of episodes Empire’s Season 4 will have. Both shows are created by Lee Daniels.

This season saw a new time for the show, now at 9 p.m. on Wednesdays, directly ater Empire. This movie has seen the show post its “highest-rated telecast since its series debut, as well as its highest seven-day total multi-platform audience since the same date, delivering a seven-day total multi-platform audience of 7.5 million viewers. The drama also was up +20 percent from its Season One finale.”

Featuring a soundtrack of original music and music performances, “Star” follows three talented singers (played by Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny, and Brittany O’Grady), desperate for a new start and with ambitions of stardom, as they navigate the cut-throat music business on their road to success. The show also stars Queen Latifah, Benjamin Bratt, Amiyah Scott, Miss Lawrence and Quincy Brown. Recurring cast members added for this season include Luke James, Evan Ross, Elijah Kelley and Keke Palmer.
