Fox announced that it shuffled some release dates.

The Rami Malek-fronted Bohemaian Rhapsody has been pushed up, but two X-Men films have been pushed back.

This means Deadpool 2 is the only Fox X-Men/Marvel film that will be released this year.

The New Mutants, originally set for release this year, has been pushed back from February 22, 2019 to August 2, 2019.

Also X-Men: The Dark Phoenix moves from November 2 to February 14, 2019.

New Mutants, a horror pic which includes the X-Men characters of the same name, has been subject to controversy due to whitewashing of Afro-Latinx characters Cecila Reyes (who will be portrayed by Alice Braga) and Roberto de Costa / Sunspot (who will be portrayed by Henry Zaga). Rosario Dawson was initially set to portray Braga, and even reception to her casting was mixed due to the character’s darker complexion in the comics.

The film’s first delay was due to the addition to a new, major character. Considering the film’s controversy, the character may be (or should be, at least) a black New Mutant.

The Dark Phoenix sees Alexandra Shipp reprise her role as Storm and Lamar Johnson has been cast in a role which is being kept under tight wraps.
