Freeform is developing In Case of Emergency, a drama series based on the 2014 book of the same name by Courtney Moreno.

The adaptation is from Circle of Confusion and eOne, and will be written by Fresh off the Boat scribe Camilla Blackett.

Blackett has been writing on the ABC comedy since its inaugural season and will pen an upcoming spy drama starring Keira Knightley.

ICOE’s description: “In Case of Emergency is a darkly comedic look at the life of Harper Gallagher, a beautiful, funny and strong millennial who is a work superhero and a mere young mortal in her personal life. She takes on the world of EMTs in a tough part of South L.A. all the while finding out who she is as a woman entering adulthood. The show will follow Harper discovering herself and how the many parts of her world intersect.”

Speaking of EMT dramas, Fox has one of their own coming from Ryan Murphy, titled 9-1-1, which is centered on emergency responders as a whole.
