The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air has been in the news a lot lately, hasn’t it? Most recently, this director’s dramatic re-imagining of the iconic series has had fans buzzing, and Will Smith has launched his take on the series in the form of a children’s book, The Fresh Princess. It seems like the time is right for a Fresh Prince reboot. All of this Fresh Prince talk has led Karyn Parsons, who played Hilary Banks on the series, to say whether she would be a part of a reboot if asked.

“Of course I would be there, of course I would,” said Parsons to Bold TV. But she said that she doesn’t see a reboot happening for one crucial reason–there would be no Uncle Phil.

“I have a hard time seeing it happen, especially since we lost James Avery, so it seems really hard to imagine,” she said. “But yeah, I would follow those guys anywhere they go.”

For right now, it seems like the closest we’ll get to a true reboot is Smith’s children’s book. In The Fresh Princess, the story is re-imagined with a young “carefree Black girl,” Destiny, at the center. Destiny, like Smith’s character in the original series, moves to a new neighborhood and “will stop at nothing to bring color to a situation and make it fit to her liking.” The book will be available for purchase on April 2.

Ironically enough, Parsons is also in the writing game. After Fresh Prince, Parsons has become a children’s author with her latest book, historical fiction story How High the Moon, telling the story of 11-year-old Ella Hankerson as she grows up during the 1940s and searches for ties to her father as she finds herself in a socially and racially intolerant society. Kirkus Reviews called the book “[a]s compelling as Brown Girl Dreaming, as character-driven as One Crazy Summer, and as historically illuminating as Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry.
