In this week’s Weekend Box Office report, Sergio told you that Girls Trip would hit the $100M mark soon — and the film has done just that. —

It hit the mark on Thursday. It’s the lone hit when you compare it to the other summer comedies: Rough Night only made $22M and Snatched has made $45M. Even when you compare it to last year’s comedies, which had a successful run, Girls Trip holds its own.

According to Deadline, insiders at Universal figured the movie was a hit at an early test screening when the audience wouldn’t stop laughing.

Meanwhile, the film has already made $7.4M in the U.K., and it could beat Get Out, which made $12.7M in total over there.

Produced by Will Packer and Malcolm D. Lee, Girls Trip follows four lifelong friends—Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith and Tiffany Haddish— who travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival, where sisterhoods are rekindled, wild sides are rediscovered, and there’s enough dancing, drinking, brawling and romancing to make the Big Easy blush.

The film is executive produced by James Lopez, head of motion pictures for Will Packer Productions, and Preston Holmes
