'Government Cheese': Apple TV+ Nears Series Order For New Dramedy Starring David Oyelowo

Apple TV+ is nearing a series order for a brand new dramedy starring David Oyelowo, Shadow and Act has confirmed.

The series, Government Cheese, is from creators Paul Hunter and Aeysha Carr. The series has tapped Oyelowo to serve as its lead and executive producer.

The show is based on an eponymous original short film by Hunter. It “follows Hampton Chambers, a man recently released from prison who struggles to keep his criminal past at bay and win back his family, all while processing moments of divine intervention that seem to happen with increasing frequency.”

Government Cheese would be the second team-up for Apple TV+ and Oyelowo, as he also starts opposite Rashida Jones in the upcoming series Wool, which is based on Hugh Howey’s best-selling trilogy of dystopian novels of the same name.
