Destiny, who portrayed Alexandra Crane on the Lee Daniels Fox musical drama Star, will play Jillian, a transfer student to Cal U from an HBCU, studying filmmaking.

A character description describes Jillian as a well-rounded character who “talks art and music with Luca (Luka Sabbat), politics and activism with Aaron (Trevor Jackson), and also fits right in with Zoey and her eclectic crew of girls.”

A spinoff of the ABC sitcom black-ish, grown-ish follows Zoey Johnson (Yara Shahidi), Dre (Anthony Anderson) and Rainbow’s (Tracee Ellis Ross) eldest daughter, as she attends college. The sitcom also stars Trevor Jackson, Francia Raisa, Emily Arlook, Chloe and Halle Bailey, Luka Sabbat, Deon Cole and Diggy Simmons.

Destiny is also set to portray boxing sensation Claressa “T-Rex” Shields in the biopic Flint Strong, set to be written by Moonlight and If Beale Street Could Talk director Barry Jenkins.
