Hakeem Kae-Kazim has been tapped to play the patriarch of the Colby clan, Cesil Colby, on The CW’s reboot of the classic 80s soap.

Kae-Kazim’s role is a re-imagined version of the original role, Cecil Colby.

The character is the father of Jeff Colby (Sam Adegoke) and Monica Colby (Wakeema Hollis). The original Cecil was the uncle of the characters.

He will begin appearing in Episode 9.

The new Dynasty centers on the Carrington family as they defend their throne against the Colbys, new rivals and threats, and even each other.

It also stars Elizabeth Gillies and Nathalie Kelley as the leads, as well as  James Mackay and Rafael de la Fuente, with Alan Dale and Grant Show.

While Dynasty hasn’t been a ratings hit and has gotten mixed reviews from critics, the show has a powerful Netflix worldwide distribution deal from its producer and CW parent entity, CBS TV Studios. So in other words, there is more of a chance that Dynasty will get a season two than being canceled.

Kae-Kazim will next be seen in the film Troy.  He is most known for his role in Hotel Rwanda.

Variety broke the news of his casting.
